William Letginlal Haokip: First Birthday

A moment to Remember: The birth of my son

Today (the 1st of October 2008) my son is completing 365 days under the dust and the wind of this planet. He came to this world on Monday at 3:30 pm, October 1, 2007. He weights 3.8 Kg and looks like none other than His creator. At his birth his mother longs for her beloved husband to be around for emotional support to ease the pain, but her dreams and desires grow dim as her husband was miles and miles away from home. The many people around her could give little comfort; their presence hardly mean anything. Her tears drop falls like a cascade, yet no one in the room could read that tears except the triune God. The Almighty God heard the cried, He came and touched the fading mother who was lying unconsciously, and she gave birth to a healthy young baby boy.

On October 1, 2007, the lunch at Sermapore College was over; the dining hall was empty, as most of the students having filled their stomach were in their room for afternoon nap. But there was one faithful man who was on his knee inside MSQ 113. He was earnestly pleading for God’s gracious hand to be upon his wife and the unborn child. His prayer was answered and instantly his cell phone rang, he picks up and answered the phone; it was the voice of his mother-law who was filled with excitement exclaims “Congratulation! Mr. Paul, you have a baby boy”. And that man knew no bound, and he was back on his knee again and keep thanking God again and again for prayer answered. I said …The Lord’s is faithful all the time.

Glory to His name….Amen

Taking Risk To Live Out God's Will

Living out God’s will, will require taking some risks:

Jesus call His disciples to follow Him, and become fishers of men. They had no idea what was in store for them! When Jesus called Saul (Paul), He did not reveal to him all that his ministry would entail or require from him. The same is true for us today! God’s guidance is given one step at a time, and often requires that we take some scary steps
of faith. In the parable of the talents in Mt. 25:14-30, we learned that the first two servants were not told what to do with the talents that were entrusted to them. They went at once and put their money to work and gained double the talents. They used their own reasoning powers to decide how best to work with the talents they had been given. They took some risks. Learning to take risks is an essential part of following God and living out His will for our lives. Without risks, a person’s life becomes a process of digging an ever-deeper cut in which he or she stagnate and cuts himself or herself off from all the God intends life to be. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Heb. 11:1). God calls us to live courageously-to take risks in order to use our gifts and bring salt and light to this hurting world.

I shared this because I have taken risked in faith and God has never put me down. When I joined NIIPGTS, under senate of Serampore as M.Th student, I had no idea where would i get the money to pay off my tuition fees and other needs. It was the word of Jesus and the testimony of the apostles that led me to step out in faith. so did i, and God has enable me to completed my first year without any dues and problems. God has honor my faith. And I believe that God will take me through even the second year of my M.Th studies.

Vengeance is for God

We Christians are good at hating and condemning others. We want to take revenge for everything that hurts us. But when we look at the scriptures and listen carefully to the gospels, it teaches us to love and not to hate. We are to love not only those who loves us, but to love our enemies and pray for them as well, Jesus says “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44). No matter how other people or religious group hate us, persecute us, we are taught not to take vengeance as the scripture says, “Never take your own revenge, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay says the Lord” (Romans 12: 19). So, God will deal according to their deeds, “…for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Galatians 6:5).It is also true that in India Christians are persecuted everywhere. Even the government seems to take sides to the people of other faiths. The victims are always Christians. But our Lord taught us not to rebel but to submit to the authority as Jesus teaches us “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Mark 12: 17). Therefore as a true Christians, we are to abide by the law of the government. But if the government misused its authorities, they will be rewarded according to their deeds. Therefore we are not to bother what others do, but we must see to it that we obey the Word of God and also obey the law of our Nation.

My Testimony

How I came to know the Lord:

Before I came to know Christ, the best way to describe my attitude toward Christianity was that I did not care at all. Even though my parents would encourage me to go to church, I saw no need for that. I would not mind being involved in other activities. I would become very easily bored with anything Christian. Even with all this I did not indulge in any bad habits because I was an athlete and it was very important to be fit. So I saw no need to drink or smoke, and this was because I wanted to be good at athletics. And the next important thing that happened was when I moved down to Poona to study. In the early days I had many difficulties. At one time I got very sick and was in bed for three days. I had no one to help me, and I went through this all alone. It was these times that I realized how important my Parents were to me. I remember they used to always pray for me so I started doing the same thing. Then one day when I was sitting in Nisha Hotel a person came up to me and introduced himself as Navin. He is a Christian. During the conversation he came to know that I was a Christian too and he was willing to help me. So he introduced me to his family and other friends. His father, H.M Suttle has helped me out a lot in my spiritual and other various needs. During all this I was asking myself many questions. God convicted me a lot and then, on 17th Sept 95 I committed my life to Christ. I made certain decisions about how I must live from then on. Since then I have grown slowly in the Lord. I became a part of E.U and this has helped me a lot in my spiritual growth too.Now when I look back at my life, I see how merciful God has been to me. Even though I was not a Christian, it was amazing how I would always get money at the last minute for my various needs. I used to be a part of football team and others sports and we would be traveling in different parts of India, and God had always protected me all this time. And there are many more examples where God has been gracious to me.After accepting and committing my entire life for Christ opportunities flow in related to Jobs in India and abroad. At the same instances, the word theology lingered in my mind, as I wanted to go for full time. But prohibiting my thoughts in my heart, thus, asking the Lord His plans. My friends I want to speak to you the truth that about the total dependence on God work out in my life. Hence, I step forward one more step in my life towards various examination. But a moment came in my life, when God led me to have a lively conversation with Rev. Dino L. Touthang, who gave comforting and soothing words, which gave hope in my life. With a hope in my heart I approach Kuki Worship Service (Delhi) for sponsorship, in spite of certain limitation. Peripheries of limitation broke down like the deficit amount for sponsorship by KWS when they show positive sign to Sponsor me. In the midst of adversities God lifted me up by using the channel known as KWS. Finally I landed up in Union Biblical Seminary (UBS) Pune, to equip with the truth embedded in His Holy words. Words are poor to felicitations for KWS but where ever I go, I will glow the torch of KWS.But my friends in Christ, the hallmark of my life is in the feet of Christ. In the same manner, I conceive that God will assist you in the arena of your life. Struggle and life are interwoven such as; relationship, family problem, failure in education, and Competition etc. listen to what Don Moen says, “ God will make away where there seems to be no way, He walk in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me, He will be my guide hold me closely by His side, with love and strength for its new day, He will make away, He will make away…………” My friends eventually I wind up with one scripture of the Bible, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.”

The Road to Serampore College for M.Th studies

The sun was scorching and rude, touching 44 degrees when we left Delhi. We loaded our luggage at New Delhi Railway Station, and bid farewell to all our friends who came to drop us. As we started off the journey, we feel really good traveling in Second Class AC, but unfortunately our enjoyment did not last long, as there was heavy rainfall in Howrah station. The water was all around the places-road were flooded, the coolies and taxi driver charges for extra money. Our driver was rude, arrogant and wanted to showoff that he was a good driver and ended up by banging his car with a tempo coming from the opposite direction. His heart burns with fire and curses the driver untill we reach Serampore. When we reach the college, nobody was there to help us, so my pregnant wife has to wait almost an hour as I hunt for some staff members who could guide us to our allotted quarter. The warden was like a man on a ship without knowing where the ship would be sailing. A bald man in his 80s came and open the door for us. It was almost dark when a Samaritan woman came down from the top floor to help us-clean the room and even invited us for dinner. This is our first experience as we enter a new chapter of our lives. God is still faithful, He will let you walk in a bad roads, not to stumble but teach how to walk.
